RSCM Oxford Singing Day for Children 2011

A short course for Key Stage 2 children, to introduce them to the pleasures of singing church music.
You needn't be a member of a church choir – just come along and have some fun!

TIMETABLE
Wednesday	9.45 am - 3.15 pm	ends with an informal performance from 3.00
Thursday	9.45 am - 6.45 pm	ends with a festival tea at 4.00 and an evening service from 6.00

Singing activities will include rounds, call/response items, improvisation and composition. There will be plenty of other activities too, including a tour of the Cathedral, art and craft work, and an introduction to music theory. Activities will take place in the Cathedral and we may also explore the gardens, where we might have some organised games. Drinks will be provided throughout the day but please bring a packed lunch. NB: Numbers are limited to 50. Book early!

Gillian Warson is an experienced teacher and choral director. She is Director of Music at St. Edburg’s Church Bicester and is a private piano and violin teacher. She has led several events for the RSCM including a hymn singing afternoon in 2009 and a Singing Day for Children in 2010.

COST: £20
Christ Church is in the centre of Oxford and is best approached on foot. There are Park and Ride sites around the city, and there is public transport by bus and train from all over the county. NB: Sorry, but it will not be possible for parents and carers to wait at the Cathedral during the day.
