A MUSICAL JOURNEY THROUGH 'LARK RISE TO CANDLEFORD'! We met at 2 to rehearse Evensong in Stratton Audley, and then sang the parts of the service successively in Fringford, Finmere and Cottesford churches (with 5 very different organs, and all part of the Shelswell Group) ending with tea at Stoke Lyne church.
Three of the churches in this group, which is north east of Bicester, are in villages where Flora Thompson based her trilogy Lark Rise to Candleford: Cottisford, Fringford and Hethe. (The 'Lark Rise' of the book is nearby Juniper Hill.) A map of the 'Lark Rise' area is here.
