Back to Bishop's Award Presentation
Born in 1983 and educated at Uppingham School, where she was a Music and Academic Scholar, Elizabeth spent her gap year as assistant organist at Winchester College, which involved playing for services in the College chapel and the Cathedral, working in the music department and a boarding house at The Pilgrims' School, and helping with choir training, ensemble rehearsing and teaching.
Following successes at the Oundle Summer School and the Royal College of Organists' National Performance Festival for Young Organists she received recital awards to play in Oxford and Cambridge, and at the Worcester Three Choirs Festival. She has given recitals in cathedrals and colleges across the UK and, in July 2000, gained her ARCO diploma, being awarded the Lord St Audries prize. Since September 2002 she has been Organ Scholar at Christ Church, Oxford, and has lessons with David Sanger while reading for a degree in music.
Elizabeth also studies the piano with Raymond Fischer (Professor of the Royal College of Music). Although she has performed extensively as a soloist, she particularly enjoys chamber music, and is in demand as an accompanist in Oxford. She also plays the oboe and recorder, and enjoys singing; she has played principal oboe in major orchestral works, and regularly performs in chamber ensembles and choirs, both in Oxford and beyond.
